I think that overall, a balanced approach to intervention for child psychopathology is the best approach, as no one type of intervention is far better than the other. In my opinion, I would say that focusing on the brain, especially since its such a developmental stage, can be the most effective and easiest option, since controlling the home environment can be difficult. However, behavior and environment still play a significant role in child development and behavioral interventions can be effective, especially if they're not seen as punitive by the child but instead as part of a learning process and can lead to healthier coping mechanisms and communication. In that same sense, focusing on improving parenting skills, or creating supportive environments (school etc.), could be the main aim since providing resources and support can be more effective than attempting to control an environment.
